Visit and Wine Tasting at Sir John's Castle
The origins of Sir John’s Castle, located in the rolling hills of Fiesole just outside of Florence, go back to the Middle Ages. It was saved from ruin by the Englishman Sir John Temple-Leader, who transformed it into the romantic vision of a feudal fortress immersed in sprawling English gardens in the mid 1800s.
The castle is in a little village whose production of fine wines is among the most important and popular in Tuscany. You'll get to enjoy their wines during the tasting, including their well-known Testamatta IGT (Sangiovese) and the Bugia IGT (Ansonica del Giglio).
Here is what the The Wine Advocate said of the wines you'll taste: “I continue to be impressed with the beautiful wines... These are highly singular, expressive wines that merit serious consideration.”
Enjoy!
