Intro
Experience the unique magic of the Venetian lagoon and some of its most famous islands by boat - Murano (glass making), Burano (lace and vividly colored houses), and bucolic Torcello, powerful political and economic epicenter of the Venetian lagoon during the 10th century.
Lagoon Islands Excursions
Leaving St. Mark's Square, you will sail out into the Bacino di San Marco. Spectacular views of the city accompany your journey as you sail past the island of San Giorgio Maggiore and the gardens of Sant'Elena. Your journey continues north past the Lido famous for its beaches and the movie stars.
After having passed the Cemetery Island of San Michele, we will be making a first stop on the island of Murano, renowned the world over for its glass making artisans. You will have 40 minutes to visit one of the workshops and discover the magic of glass blowing and glass sculpting.
Your tour then continues towards Burano for a second stop of about 30 minutes. Burano is famous not only for its exquisite lace making, but also for its vividly colored fishermen's houses.
After another short sail, you will reach the bucolic island of Torcello for a visit of about 30 minutes. It is almost impossible to imagine that this tiny hamlet was the earliest center of civilization in the lagoon, and later a metropolis with thousands of inhabitants. Only the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta with its breathtaking mosaics as well as the church of Santa Fosca remain as silent witnesses to its glorious past.
Your boat will then turn back south towards Venice and take you back to St. Mark's Square.
