Brenta River and Villas Boat Cruise from Venice

The Brenta River runs from the Trentino region in the Alps to the Adriatic Sea, which it reaches through the Venetian lagoon, just south of Venice. The last part of the river, a branch called the “Naviglio di Brenta” is an extraordinary area. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the patrician families of Venice built a number of villas along this river where they resided during summer, far from crowded Venice. The architect who designed and built most of them is the great Andrea Palladio, generally considered one of the single most influential individuals in the history of Western architecture. His style was deeply influenced by the principles alive in Greek and Roman architecture, giving his buildings an exquisite grandeur and calm. Today, the “Riviera del Brenta” area has enormous artistic and historical value, and the Palladian Villas are on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.

During the tour you'll see Villa Foscari (also called “La Malcontenta”) in Malcontenta, Villa Widmann-Foscari (also called Villa Scerriman) in Mira, Villa Querini Stampalia in Mira Porte, the beautiful moveable bridges and much more.

Beside the peaceful enjoyment of the beauty, you’ll also get a taste of the Venetian meat or fish specialties in one of the several restaurants along the river (not included in the price).

The Boats

For 6 to 11 people: The Bragozzo is a traditional flat bottom fishing and transportation boat of the northern Adriatic (created to navigate the shallow waters). Fallen into disuse with the advent of modern fishing vessels and motor transportation boats, it has been brought back for the pleasure it offers sailing the waters of the Venetian lagoon and adjoining rivers. "El Sultan" was built in 2006 at the shipyard "F.lli Vidal" in Burano and launched on June 24 that year. It is entirely made of wood and decorated by young artists of the Fine Arts Academy in Venice reinterpreting the classic designs of traditional Venetian boats. It is approved by the RINA certification company for the transport of 12 persons on benches with cushions and a sundeck in the bow. It includes a fridge, an awning for shade and another tent to shelter from the rain.

For 1 to 5 people: The Sampierotta, for centuries the traditional fishing boat of the southern lagoon of Venice, takes its name from the fishing village of San Pietro in Volta on the lagoon island of Pellestrina. It is a very adaptable boat that can be propelled by motor, rowing and sailing. Thanks to the flat bottom (fishing in only 25 cm / less than 4 inches deep waters), the Sampierotta can navigate even in very shallow waters and leave the canals to venture into the most striking and less trafficked areas. Our Sampierotta "Mora" was built in 1981 at the shipyard "Menetto" of San Pietro in Volta. The yard "Menetto" was known for the unmistakable line they gave to their sampierottas. Despite the age, it's a beautiful and very elegant boat; it can carry up to 5 people plus the driver and it is equipped with two benches with cushions.
