The Universal Exposition EXPO Milano 2015 - Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life - will be a global event of extraordinary importance. 20 million visitors from around the world are expected to visit the EXPO - buying admission tickets in advance is therefore strongly recommended. Your admission ticket gives you access to the exhibition site without having to stand in line at the ticket office.
The EXPO Milano 2015 Open Date Ticket
Get your Open Date Ticket here - it gives you access to the EXPO on any day from May 2 to October 31, 2015. It is a day ticket, for access during the opening hours (10:00am to 11:00pm).
Once you have determined the date of your visit, we strongly recommend you access the MyExpo section of the official website of the event to convert your ticket by confirming the date. You can choose between days available, within one day prior to your visit, and check out the program and events for that day.
PLEASE NOTE: Once the date is confirmed, the ticket CANNOT be changed nor cancelled. Open-dated tickets that are not converted to a fixed date will allow entry only if spaces are still open for access.
After completing your order you will receive a confirmation email with your tickets. Please note that you can only print tickets ONCE and have to keep them carefully. To ensure quick transit to access points please ensure high printing quality of the ticket data and the QR code. The print must be clear, defined and undamaged, grainy or crumpled tickets cannot be accepted.
What is included?
The admission includes access to all pavilions and to the numerous events of daily and evening entertainment programme, with the exception of the show Allavita! Cirque du Soleil (held at the Open Air Theatre at Expo Milano 2015 from May 6 to August 23). The ticket also includes admission to the Milan Triennale “Arts & Foods” exhibition at Viale Alemagna 6, Milan, starting April 10, 2015. Visitors will buy consumer experiences such as meals and tastings separately.
Important information for your visit
> Admission includes 1 free entry only. It is not permitted to re-enter after leaving.
> Do not write anything that covers or deletes the printed text and/or QR code on the ticket - they are elements that have tax value and are essential in order to pass through the access gates.
> There are no areas for luggage or lockers inside the exhibition site, visitors are therefore strongly discouraged to bring baggage, especially if large. Outside of the site, at Fiera Milano in Rho, luggage deposit spaces with limited capacity will likely be provided for a fee.
> Smoking allowed only in restricted areas.
> Taking pictures and making audio and video recordings for private and domestic purposes only is permitted, whereas any photography or recording for commercial purposes, for selling, granting of use, publishing or other commercial activity is not permitted.
> The visitor gives his consent to be photographed, filmed or recorded in the area of the Universal Exposition by EXPO or by EXPO-appointed third parties. EXPO or third parties appointed by EXPO are entitled to broadcast, publish, use and grant use of photographs, pictures, movies, recordings of the Universal Exposition that contain the visitor without the latter being entitled to any remuneration.
Safety Standards
> The access control system allows a single entry corresponding to a single QR ticket code. EXPO will not, under any circumstances, allow access to any duplicate tickets. In case an EXPO ticket was mistakenly or maliciously printed two or more times and distributed to two or more persons, only the first person who shows up at the access gates will be allowed inside the exhibition site. Any other holders of the same ticket will be stopped at the entrance and will not have access. We therefore recommend you keep tickets you already printed as well as the ticket you receive via email after your purchase very carefully.
> At the entrance to EXPO, safety inspections according to the standards laid down for international airports will be carried out. All visitors provide their consent for safety inspections before and during the visit of the Universal Exposition. Security controls include limited personal (body) search of the visitor, inspection of baggage or other personal effects carried by the visitor.
> Visitors are not permitted to bring the following objects onto the exhibition site:
Guns, firearms and other devices that discharge projectiles, devices capable, or appearing capable, of being used to cause serious injury by discharging a projectile, including:
- Firearms of all types, such as pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns,
- Assembled explosive devices, explosives, pyrotechnics, smoke bombs, flares,
- Toy guns, replicas and imitation firearms capable of being mistaken for real weapons,
- Component parts of firearms, excluding binoculars for tracking,
- Air or carbon dioxide guns, such as pistols, pellet guns, rifles and ball pistols
- Signal flare pistols and starter pistols,
- Bows, crossbows and arrows,
- Harpoon and spear guns,
- Slingshots and catapults;
Stunning devices designed specifically to stun or immobilize, including:
- Devices for shocking, such as stun guns, paralyzing guns (tasers) and stun batons,
- stunners for animals
- Chemicals, gases and sprays capable of disabling or incapacitating, such as a spray, tear gas, acid sprays and animal repellent;
Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge that can be used to cause serious injury, including:
- Items designed for chopping, such as axes, hatchets and cleavers,
- Ice axes and ice picks,
- Razor blades,
- Cutters,
- Knives with blades more than 6 cm
- Scissors with blades of more than 6 cm as measured from the fulcrum,
- Martial arts equipment with a sharp point or sharp edge,
- Swords and sabers;
- Other items for tip or cutting, tools to offend or capable of being launched, sound instruments (drums, trumpets, musical instruments of all kinds), megaphones and other systems of emission or amplification of sound, and other items that may pose a hazard to the safety of persons within the site and disturb or affect the smooth running of the exposition;
Drugs, toxins, hazardous substances, flammable, paint or other foulant material;
Beverages contained in cans or in glass bottles;
Pets of any kind, with the exception of guide dogs for the visually impaired;
Banners, signs, horizontal banners, flags, documents, drawings, printed or written material, containing propaganda in political doctrines ideological or religious, or statements or concepts other than those expressly authorized by the police authorities;
In general any type of material that EXPO may deem dangerous or that may cause damage.
> Visitors are allowed to bring inside the EXPO site:
- Liquids such as drinks and soft drinks (milk - fruit juice) for personal use (not in cans or glass bottles)
- Other types of liquid (containing alcohol) but in an amount not greater than 100 ml per single container.
DIRECTIONS:
The EXPO Milano 2015 exhibition site is located a few kilometers from the center of Milan, in an area connecting to the three city airports and major public transport systems. The site is easily accessible locally, regionally and internationally:
By Subway (Metro):
Line 1 (southwest access) links the EXPO area to the city's public transportation system with the interchange parking “Molino Dorino” and the one planned for in the “Fiera” area
By Car:
A4 Torino-Milano-Venezia,
A8/A9 Milano-Como-Chiasso and Milano-Varese
West ring road, which continues southward with the A1 Milano-Roma-Napoli
By Train:
The high-speed train system will open a new, dedicated station near the northwest entrance of the EXPO exhibition site. This station will also be served by two regional lines in turn connected to the network of Milan Metro.
By Plane:
The EXPO site is equidistant from the airports of Milano Linate, Malpensa and Orio al Serio.
On foot:
To facilitate the access and egress, the EXPO exhibition site is served by two elevated walkways that connect it to the city of Milan. The footbridge that links the EXPO area with “Cascina Merlata” (project for a new residential neighborhood south of the exhibition site) has a length of approximately 350 meters and is primarily used as access for workers and visitors.The footbridge connecting EXPO Milano 2015 to the fair site (“Fiera”), on the other hand, has a total length of 500 meters and a width of 11 meters, and is reserved for visitors.

Visit the Cathedral (Duomo) of Milan, symbol of the city, dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente (Saint Mary Nascent), perhaps most important work of Gothic architecture in Italy and one of the most famous and complex church buildings in the world. Your Combo Ticket allows access to the Cathedral Terraces by elevator, admission to the Archaeological Area of the Baptistery, and to the Cathedral Treasure. Cancellation Policy:
Purchased tickets remained unused cannot be refunded. If not obliterated, they are valid until December 31, 2015.
INFORMATION about access for visitors with limited mobility and disabilities:
- The Cathedral can be accessed from the church square, the nave and aisles are accessible.
- The Treasure Room and the Crypt of San Carlo Borromeo can only be reached via stairs with handrails.
- The early Christian Baptistery, due to its underground location, can be reached only by stairs and features a circular path with uneven pavement, many steps, and passageways measuring a minimum of 63cm/25”. The early Christian Baptistery can be reached by visitors with mobility disabilities through the mezzanine of the MM1 metro station.
- The Terraces are accessible by elevator (cabin opening 65cm/26.6”, inside of cabin 113×83cm /44.5”x32.7”). The architectural barriers present make it possible to reach only the level of the walkways but not to continue along the entire path. The walkways are small and allow passage of only one person at a time.
IMPORTANT – Code of Conduct
The monumental complex of the cathedral of Milan is above all a place of worship. Visitors are asked to respect some simple rules while in the Cathedral:
- Appropriate clothing is required – no bare arms/shoulders or bare legs
- Please respect the silence
- Large bags and suitcases are not permitted inside the cathedral. The Cathedral does not have a bag checkroom.
- No food or drinks of any kind
- Do not touch the works of art
- Do not use mobile phones
- Do not use LASER pointers
- No animals allowed
- Strollers and baby carriages are permitted inside the Cathedral. On the Terraces, strollers and baby carriages must be kept closed, as steep stairs and very narrow passages would make it impossible to use them.
- All terrace walkways have handrails and protection systems. However, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult and held by the hand throughout the entire visit.
- Booking and rental of the headset systems are required for all groups from 5 to a maximum of 50 people, excluding the tour leader and guide.
Photographs and Video:
- Individual visitors entering the Duomo and wishing to take photos strictly for personal use, and not for profit or study purposes, must purchase an ID wristband (€ 2.00) as proof of authorization. The word "photos" indicates any form of picture/image taken using any type of equipment, including film or digital cameras, mobile phones, tablets and smartphones.
- The wristband can be purchased directly at the distribution point located inside the cathedral, at the north nave entrance. The wristband must be worn at all times and presented upon request of security personnel.
- The photo wristband can also be purchased online and collected, upon presentation of the payment voucher, at the Group Welcome Point located under the archway of the Church of Santa Maria Annunciata in Camposanto in Piazza Duomo 18, before entering the cathedral.
- Groups that have been pre-booked and supplied with microphone and headset systems by the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo are not required to pay for the photo wristband.
How to get there:
By car:
The cathedral (Duomo) is located in the historic city center. It therefore cannot be reached directly by car. You can, however, reach the area of Piazza Fontana and then continue on foot for about 400 meters toward Piazza Duomo. Please note that the Duomo area is subject to the strict “Zone A” restrictions, i.e. the Limited Traffic Zone of Cerchia dei Bastioni, from Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 7:30pm.
By train:
From Stazione Centrale (the central station), take the yellow subway line (M3), get off at “Duomo”
From Cadorna station, take the red subway line (M1), get off at “Duomo”
From Garibaldi station, take the green subway line (M2), change at “Cadorna” and get on the red line (M1), get off at “Duomo”
By plane:
From Milan Malpensa airport (MXP): You can reach Stazione Centrale (the central station) by shuttle bus service or taxi. The Malpensa Express train connects the airport to the Milano Centrale and Porta Garibaldi stations. Shuttle buses depart approximately every 30 minutes from 3:45 am to 12:30am.
From Linate airport (LIN): You can reach Stazione Centrale (the central station) with bus 73 from 6:05am to 11:35pm.
By subway:
The “Duomo” stop is served by the red line (M1) and the yellow line (M3).
By tram:
